Annual Giving
Overview
Gifts in support of SFS’s annual giving initiatives and programs make a tremendous difference in the lives of students and help ensure the excellence of a St. Francis de Sales High School education.
Along with income from the Endowment Fund, annual giving by alumni, parents and friends enables SFS to meet its most pressing needs by funding a portion of the School’s annual operating budget. Whether through the SFS Annual Fund or fundraising events (such as Funarama or the Knight Ball, for example), annual giving has an immediate impact on the financial health and well-being of the School.
From financial aid and teacher salaries to facilities maintenance and athletic programs, annual gifts support the School’s core needs and are vital to SFS. Each and every annual gift counts -- a $500 unrestricted annual gift provides a financial benefit to the School that is equivalent to the annual interest income associated with a $10,000 capital gift to the Endowment Fund – and the School is grateful to its annual donors for their generous support of the School’s mission.
SFS Annual Fund
The newly constituted SFS Annual Fund is the primary annual giving program for the School’s alumni, parents and friends. Through the SFS Annual Fund, donors are invited to provide current and immediate expendable support for the School’s core needs.
Gifts of any size to the SFS Annual Fund enhance the School’s ability to provide for its students. At the same time, participation in the SFS Annual Fund is an important measure of alumni attitudes toward the School. As the School seeks to broaden its donor base and to create a “culture of giving” that will serve SFS well in the future, a strong SFS Annual Fund – both in terms of dollars raised and alumni participation – is of considerable importance.
Fundraising Events
Throughout the year, dedicated students, parents, alumni, friends, faculty and staff, orchestrate and host a wide variety of fundraising events for the benefit of the School. Thanks to this group of generous sponsors and volunteers – and to those who attend or otherwise support such events -- the School is able raise much-needed funds.
Among the School’s annual fundraising events are: Funarama; the Fr. Healy Memorial Golf Outing; Wait Knight; the Charlie’s Dodge Car Raffle; the Italian Dinner; and Knight Fest.
In addition to the above-mentioned events, each December, the School holds its biggest fundraiser of the year: the Knights’ Ball, a gala event that includes a silent auction and the opportunity to participate in the increasingly-popular “Sponsor-a-Knight” scholarship program. Since its inception in 1992, the Knights’ Ball (formerly the Presidential Ball) has raised more than $1.6 million for the School.
