COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The goal of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of the computing technology that fuels the information age. The course currently focusses on computer document creation and introductory computer programming concepts. The documents created are World Wide Web (WWW) documents using the Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). An emphasis is placed on the concepts of document organization, structure, tags and tag attributes, rather than on the use of WYSIWYG editors. Introductory programming concepts are introduced using the JavaScript programming language. JavaScript allows students to write programs that will run on any type of computer that has a JavaScript capable web browser. Also, the world of object oriented programming is introduced through the use of the Java programming language and the Java Applet class.
