IslandWorld Exercise

Create an island scene.  Start by choosing a water world template.  Add an island object (located in the Environments collection of the gallery).  Use the scene editor to position the island a bit to the right of the center of the scene.  Add a goldfish to the scene.  You may find that the goldfish is invisible because it is located behind the island or is not properly positioned.  Use the scene editor and its quad view to arrange the goldfish so it looks like it is swimming in the water to the left of the island.  Use the camera controls to zoom out so the island and the goldfish are both in the camera’s view.

Winter

Add two snowmen (located in the People collection of the gallery) to a snowy scene.  Use a snow template initial world.  Then, create a snowman stack using the scene editor’s quad view to position one snowman on top of the other (vertically), as shown below:

Soldiers on Deck

Add a carrier (Vehicle folder in Web gallery) and four toy soldiers (People) to a new world.  Line up the soldiers for a formal ceremony – two each end of the carrier deck, as shown below.

Right-click on each soldier and use methods (from popup menu) to move the arms of the soldiers to salute each other.  Or, use the mouse controls in the scene editor to move the arms into position.  (Use the “affect subparts” checkbox to allow the mouse to move their arms.)  Raise the left arm of each soldier 9at about a 45-degree angle with the horizontal plane).  The result should be a scene where all four soldiers are saluting.
