The St. Francis de Sales Spring Musical has been announced: "Les Miserables." Tryouts will be in early January and the performances will be the first two weekends in May. Great music: "At the End of the Day", "Who am I?", "Master of the House?", "Do You Hear the People Sing" and lots more! Get ready for the best show ever!
"Les Miserables", set in the early 19th century, is the story of Jean Valjean a burly French peasant of abnormal strength and his quest for redemption after serving nineteen years in jail for having stolen a loaf of bread for his starving sister's child. Valjean decides to break his parole and start his life anew after a kindly bishop inspires him to, but he is relentlessly tracked down by a police inspector named Javert. Along the way, Valjean and a slew of characters are swept into a revolutionary period in France, where a group of young idealists make their last stand at a street barricade.
The music is powerful and memorable including such songs as, “At the End of the Day”, “I Dreamed a Dream”, “Lovely Ladies”, “Who am I”, “Master of the House”, “Do You Hear the People Sing” and many, many more.
Principal cast members include Derek Kastner as Jean Valjean, Robert Pamies as Javert, Erin Johns as Cossette, Alexis AbouAmaj as Eponine, Nick Dombi as Thenardier, Katie Shade as Madame Thenardie, Stephen Gullette as Marius, and April Varner as Fantine.
