Goals and Expectations
In general, the goals of Student Council are:
- to promote and encourage school spirit and loyalty;
- to lead the student body, especially by example, in embodying the Objectives of the school as listed in the Student Handbook;
- to create a greater sense of responsibility, understanding and cooperation between the members of the school community;
- to promote the academic, spiritual, physical and especially the social development of the students of St. Francis de Sales.
All of these goals are to be fulfilled in a spirit of Christian fellowship and Salesian spirituality.
Listed here are some of the expectations of all members of Student Council. In general, elected officers are expected to, among other things,
- be positive role models and willing leaders;
- attend several summer meetings;
- attend regular meetings throughout the school year;
- help with all student council activities;
- coordinate Homecoming, Spirit Week, the Prom, school dances, pep rallies and other social activities.
Members of Student Council who receive more than six demerits shall be dismissed from office.
