Battle of the Bands is a charity event, as well as a competition between student “rock” bands. Bands apply by submitting an application and a demo CD of one song. A jury of students then listen to the CD’s and give each a score. The bands with the top seven scores overall give a live performance at the annual Battle of the Bands, held in the SFS gymnasium. Each band is given approximately 30 minutes to perform. Throughout the evening, those in the audience cast ballots for their favorite band. The band that receives the most votes at the end of the event is awarded the first place prize and is invited to play at the After-Prom Party. In 2007, $100 in cash was given to the winning band.
All of the profits from the Battle of the Bands benefit the annual St. Francis de Sales summer service trip to Honduras.
