The Aqua-Knights won their 44th NW District Championship by winning or taking 2nd place in every event. Multiple District and Team Records and NISCA (National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association) All-American times were set.
The Little Giant Invite, held at Fremont High School in early January, was the first hint that this would be an outstanding season for the Knights. With seven of their varsity swimmers away at another meet, the Aqua-Knight surprised everyone by winning the meet, with first place scores in Diving (Dylan Szegedi-Oregon) with a new meet and pool record, 200 free (Matt Zimmerman-Maumee) and the 400 free relay (Zimmerman, Matt Marshall-W. Toledo, Connor Trimble-Maumee, Nick Carmony-Perrysburg). All of the swimmers, including freshmen swimmers John Booth – Sylvania, Matt Gustafson - Waterville, freshman diver Matthew Evola- Sylvania, and JV swimmers Jack Meyers – Ottawa Hills, Tom Quattromani – W. Toledo, Zach Trimble – Maumee, and David Cerelli – Ida, Mi., contributed to the win with fast times and great scores. On the same day, the seven other Aqua-Knights took 2nd place at the Ned Reeb Invitational, winning the 200 free (Rowan Williams-Ottawa Hills) and the 400 Free Relay (Williams, Dan DiSalle-Perrysburg, Mike DiSalle-S. Toledo, Dan Miller-Lambertville, MI) with a time of 3:12.40, the fastest time in the state so far in the season. Later in the same month, the Aqua-Knights defeated Michigan state champions Ann Arbor Pioneer, and won most events at the JV State Championships in Canton.
