Dr. Geoffrey Grubb, Dean of Arts and Sciences at Lourdes College, was the guest speaker for the National Honor Society Induction Ceremony held at St. Francis de Sales High School on October 29. Twenty six juniors and seniors were inducted into the school’s chapter of the NHS. They are:

Seniors: Kelly Desmond, Brody Henry, Ryan Schmidt, Dean Telecsan; Juniors: Brian Brookover, Matthew Coats, Aaron Copi, Patrick Dyer, Samuel Evola, Hunter Gibbons, Matthew Hankenhof, Andrew Hilfinger, Michael Lewandowski, Cameron McHugh, Conner Mitchell, Christian Mocek, Jonathan Niese, Eric O'Brien, Anthony Phandinh, Justin Price, William Shellabarger, Storm Stanley, Andrew Swartz, Zachary Valigosky, Daniel White, and Daniel Yanos.

Students were nominated by faculty members on the basis of their Scholarship, Service, Character, and Leadership. Each inductee received a certificate and a pin, and signed a pledge book, agreeing to “…uphold the high purposes of the National Honor Society.”

Patrick McGrady Scholarship PDF Print E-mail

Patrick McGrady, an alumnus and benefactor of St. Francis de Sales High School and his wife, Angele, have established an endowed fund to provide a scholarship to an outstanding scholar-athlete(s) already attending St. Francis de Sales.  The scholarship was established in 2001 for a football and/or basketball player.  This year, three scholarships, $2000 each, have been awarded for the 2008-09 academic year. The student-athlete(s) must have a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Selection is made from among nominees at the beginning of the previous 4th quarter by Mr. McGrady.  Formal presentation of this award was made at the Fall Honors Ceremony on September 16. The recipients are Dan Yodzis, sophomore, Justin Price, junior, and Brody Henry, senior.

Mr. George Booth, a longtime friend and benefactor of St. Francis de Sales High School has established an endowed fund to provide a scholarship to an outstanding scholar-athlete already attending St. Francis de Sales.   Mr. Booth established this award in 1998 and made a formal presentation at the Fall Honors Ceremony on September 16 to a senior, Stephen Yeager.

This year the scholarship is valued at $5000. The scholarship may be awarded for the following year, to a freshman, sophomore or junior athlete,  in any sport recognized as a varsity sport in our school. The student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Selection is made from among nominees at the beginning of the previous 4th quarter.

 
Collegium Honorum PDF Print E-mail

Membership in the Collegium Honorum is composed of students in each class who have a cumulative grade point average of 4.000 or better. Membership is determined each year at the end of the first semester. Seniors who average 4.333 or better will receive The Collegium Honorum Blazer.
