Washington, D.C. Trip Print

Mr. Collier and Mr. Gerken are leading a group of SFS students to the Presidential Inauguration which will take place in January of 2009.  We have invited Notre Dame Academy to participate, and at least 48 NDA students have already signed up for the trip.  We have room for about 40 more SFS students.

We will leave SFS on Saturday January 17, 2009 and return overnight on Jan. 21/22.  In addition to attending the Inauguration, students will attend a student Inaugural Ball, and will visit most of the important sites in and around Washington.  Planned activities include participation in a wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery, a tour of the U.S. Capitol, Mt. Vernon, National Archives, a night tour of D.C. monuments and memorials, and much more.  The cost of the 5 day trip is $992 and includes all travel, hotel, tour expenses, and breakfast/dinner each day.  Registration packets can be picked up from Mr. Collier in the dean's office.  Once a packet has been picked up, registration can be done on line at the WorldStrides web site.

Mr. Collier can be reached at 419-531-1618, ext. 314 if there are any questions about the trip or registration process.  This will be the 5th time that Mr. Collier and Mr. Gerken have attended a Presidential Inauguration with SFS students, and we are happy to be including NDA students on this trip.

St. Francis announces the naming of eight seniors to be Knights of Honor. This designation is given to those students who best exemplify development in the four "pillars" of a St. Francis education:  physical, academic, spiritual, and social. Each Knight of Honor received a sword as a memento of his "knighting" in a ceremony held during the Mass celebrating the Feast of St. Francis de Sales.
