Sophomore Year

The Sophomore year at St. Francis de Sales is a time of greater personal responsibility, knowledge acquisition and educational growth and insight.

As sophomores, they will also be participating in more standardized testing.  In October, they take the PSAT for practice and in November the PLAN.  Each of these is preparation for the major college entrance exams (SAT and ACT) that they take as juniors.  In March, they take the OGT’s (Ohio Graduation Tests).

Additionally, students are becoming more engaged in the college search process through the use of Naviance, the web-based program that St. Francis uses.  Through use of this program, students can begin matching their test scores and GPA to colleges that each might consider, along with other factors such as the size of the school, the location, public vs. private and  cost, to  name a few.

Although this is a year of transitions, we encourage our Knights to maintain not just a positive attitude towards class work but also involvement in the athletic, extracurricular and spiritual aspects of their education.
