The annual Honors and Awards Ceremony was held September 26, 2013 to present medals and awards to students for their work in the two semesters of the 2012-2013 school year. Fr. Ronald Olszewski, President, opened the assembly with a prayer and Mr. Chris Steingass, Dean of Academics, announced the students with honors. Each department chair announced the honorees in his/her subject area.
In his closing remarks, Principal Eric Smola thanked the faculty and staff for their dedication, commitment, and willingness to prepare the Knights as Christian gentlemen. He then congratulated each of the students on setting goals and working hard to achieve them. He encouraged the students to have a thirst for knowledge and to commit themselves to being the best students they can be.

In the 2012-2013 school year, 189 St. Francis de Sales students took AP Exams in 18 AP Courses. Nearly 70% of the students passed at least one exam with a total of 240 exams passed. That translates into nearly 1000 hours of college credit earned.

Seniors who qualified for the 2014 National Merit Program: Joseph Tansey, Matthew Pellioni, Connor Nowakowski, Bradley Geordt, Arthur Pollauf, and Benjamin Cook.
Six St. Francis de Sales seniors scored well enough on the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) to be entered into the 2014 National Merit® Scholarship Program. Each of these students is among the 50,000 highest scoring participants of the 1.5 million program entrants.
Those who are named Semifinalists, that is placing in the top one percent of more than 1.5 million students taking the test, will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for about 8,300 National Merit Scholarships to be offered in 2014. In addition some may be named Commended Students by placing among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2014 PSAT/NMSQT competition.

According to the Educational Testing Service, people who study Latin do better on the English part of the SAT than people who take another foreign language. The National Latin Exam was taken by over 154,000 students in 2013. Latin is taught by Dr. Nick Russo.
