Academics

The St. Francis de Sales High School Class of 2012 has 150 seniors that graduated June 2 at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle. It is worth noting that among the many achievements and honors bestowed on this class, 100% of students applying to college have been accepted into one or more colleges of their choice.
Among the more than 100 schools where students have been accepted are the Georgia Institute of Technology, Purdue University, University of Notre Dame, University of Michigan, Boston College, Marquette University, Georgetown University, The Ohio State University, University of Toledo, Miami University, and the University of Chicago. One student has been appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Academic and athletic scholarships and grants totaling nearly $15 million were awarded to 132 students of the graduating class. Two hundred seventy-two Advanced Placement Examinations were taken in 19 subject areas by 94 students. One student is a National Merit Finalist and two students are National Merit Commended Scholars.
There are 78 seniors who have been recognized as All-Academic Athletes having earned at least a 3.0 grade point average and a varsity letter in a sport; many of them play more than one varsity sport. The class has 47 Honor Students and 33 seniors are members of the National Honor Society.
It is very impressive that this class has contributed more than 15,300 hours in community service to 115 local organizations, in Appalachia, and Omaha, Nebraska. Each student has completed at least 100 hours of community service.

AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP…
“…who has contributed outstanding leadership to the school and to his fellow students by a majority vote of the faculty" was presented to Nathaniel Steingass (Gesu Parish).
AWARD OF THE OBLATES OF ST. FRANCIS DE SALES…
“… the highest and most honored award in that this award is given to the graduate who most nearly exemplifies the spirit of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales, and, therefore, the spirit of the patron of St. Francis de Sales High School.”
The citation for the award of the Oblates of St. Francis reads: "Excellent student, true gentleman, zealous apostle. St.Francis de Sales blended perfectly love of knowledge with love of God. The Oblates of St. Francis de Sales who perpetuate that spirit pray that the recipient of this award may continue to grow in his likeness."
The Oblate Award was presented to Matthew Kirian (Christ the King).
